Welcome to Zenshidai Silat and Defense
We are located at 3250 North Tenaya Road #109, Las Vegas, NV 89129.
We train, coach, and teach kids and adults Kuntao Silat, Boxing, and Self-Defense.
Lotus
The lotus is very sturdy and well anchored. Although the flowers look beautiful, they can thrive in harsh environments. Symbolically this represents beauty in the art and yourself and your ability to survive harsh surroundings.
Karambit
The karambit first surfaced in Indonesia during the 11th century as a farming tool and utility blade. Symbolically shows the connection to the history, and the idea that time and use transforms our purpose.
Colors
The colors of the karambit are black and white representing the duality of the art. Hard and soft, external and internal. Duality is crucial in everything we do in Silat at every level. In life, we face two opponents- one on the inside and one on the outside, and we must learn to recognize them both.
The Figure
The figure is balancing on the lotus, allowing the self be balanced within the art. The figure emerges with dedication, the entire time while balancing all of the components til they are internal and take root.
Welcome to Zenshidai Silat!
Silat is a collective word for a class of indigenous martial arts from a geo-cultural area of Southeast Asia encompassing most of the Nusantara, the Indonesian Archipelago. There are over 600 different styles. We are predominately a Kuntao silat course. Kuntao is the Chinese Indonesian martial art, the result of literally centuries of cross-cultural interaction between the martial arts of Chinese colonists in Indonesia and indigenous Indonesian martial arts.
We teach Kuntao Silat as well as Boxing and Self-Defense for kids(10 and above) and adults
